Latest Fraudulent E-mail being received.
We are aware that the following e-mail is circulating and may have been received by some clients. The e-mail has NOT been sent by Standard Bank and is an attempt by fraudsters to get recipients to download software which will record password information typed in by the user and then the fraudster will be able to access this information.
The fraudsters are after passwords and log in codes for Internet Banking and other personal information. They send these e-mails from bogus e-mail accounts which are very similar to genuine Standard Bank e-mail addresses.
The e-mails are similar to the below:

Stay Safe Online!
Our Internet Banking system is highly secure, however to protect yourself from the effects of computer crime, please follow these sensible precautions at all times when accessing the Internet Banking service:
- Ensure your PC is properly protected with up to date Anti Virus and Anti Spyware software from a leading software provider.
- Never access Internet Banking from a computer you are unfamiliar with, especially those in public places such as Internet Cafés
- Do not respond to e-mails claiming to be from the bank asking you to reconfirm your security details or secret codes. The bank will never ask you to do this.
- Always access our Internet Banking site from our website homepage www.standardbank.com/offshore and not from links sent to you within e-mails. These links often take you to spoof websites set up by criminals to access your secret code information.
- Contact us immediately if you are concerned about receiving suspicious e-mails or if you have recently responded to such an e-mail. We can help.
